Oslo: Norwegian employees have spoken: If they have to get by without either e-mail or their phones for three days, mobiles go out of the window. “Norway would come to a standstill without e-mail,” says Eirik Pedersen, Proact’s Director of Sales and Marketing.

Proact Storage Barometer:
More than a quarter – 26 per cent – of listed companies and authorities use cloud services for storage and archiving, or are planning to do so. However, many IT departments are still playing a waiting game when it comes to IT in the clouds. These are the findings of the Proact Storage Barometer.
“However, developments are taking place quickly, and I think we will be seeing a breakthrough soon,” says Per Sedihn, CTO at Proact. Forma Publishing Group is one company that perceives clear gains from buying cloud storage.

Pohjois-Euroopan johtava tallennusratkaisujen asiantuntija Proact takoi poikkeuksellisen vahvan tuloksen ensimmäisellä vuosineljänneksellään. Konsernin liikevaihto kasvoi 7 % ja päättyi 33,1 (31,0) miljoonaan euroon. Tulos ennen veroja nousi 12 % ja oli 1 (0,9) miljoonaa euroa.

Vaativien tallennusratkaisujen toteuttaja Proact Finland Oy toimittaa SATEL Oy:lle levytallennukseen perustuvan DataDomain -varmistusratkaisun uuden sukupolven DD610-laitteella. Kyseessä on ensimmäinen Suomessa toteutettu DataDomain -järjestelmä.

Vaativien tallennusratkaisujen toteuttaja Proact Finland Oy toimittaa NetApp-tallennusratkaisun Aalto-yliopistolle. Yliopiston tallennuslaitteet on sijoitettu kahteen erilliseen konesaliin, minkä ansiosta katastrofivalmius on hyvä.

Pohjois-Euroopan johtava tallennusratkaisujen asiantuntija Proactin on julkaissut vuoden 2010 tallennusbarometrin. Sen mukaan Ruotsin pörssiyhtiöt ja viranomaiset ovat varautuneet huonosti IT-järjestelmiinsä kohdistuviin onnettomuuksiin. Lähes puolet barometriin haastatelluista organisaatioista ilmoittaa, että onnettomuudesta toipuminen kestää vähintään päivän tai jopa useita viikkoja.

Authorities and listed companies are not very well equipped to deal with IT system breakdowns. 45 per cent of organisations - almost half - state that it would take at least a day and possibly up to several weeks before their systems could be used fully again following crashes in their most business-critical systems. These are the findings of the Proact Storage Barometer*, a survey involving IT managers from 100 listed companies and authorities.
